Norway's Aker Offshore Wind and Swedish firm Hexicon have signed an agreement to jointly explore and realize floating wind opportunities offshore Sweden, that could generate "several gigawatts" of renewable power.

Norway will press ahead with North Sea wind power this year, awarding its first development licenses as it spurs the transition of its oil and gas industry and despite its already plentiful renewables supply.

Floatel International, a company providing offshore accommodation rigs for the oil and gas industry, said Wednesday it had successfully completed its comprehensive balance sheet restructuring.

Integrated Wind Solutions, a newly formed offshore wind service company owned by Norway's Awilhelmsen investment group, is eyeing a private placement of new shares in the company in connection with a listing on Euronext Growth Oslo, aiming to raise up to $89 million.

TechnipFMC has entered into an agreement with Magnora ASA to jointly pursue floating offshore wind project development opportunities under the name Magnora Offshore Wind.

Norway approved on Wednesday Equinor's 4.8 billion Norwegian crowns ($466 million) plan to build floating offshore wind turbines that will provide electricity to North Sea oil and gas platforms, the energy ministry said.
